REHABILITATION DEVELOPMENT, planning permission has been granted for the rehabilitation of an existing old barn, which will consist on the development of a new terraced villa, a construction of 92 m2 new construction, split on 2 levels: 52m2 on ground floor and 40m2 on 1st floor.
South oriented, the villa will have its own independent front yard. The house is set according to the following floor plan (see photos): Ground floor raised floor from the ground at the front street, and semi levelled with the street at the back. From main entrance, way is given to an open front mixed living-dinning-kitchen space. On this ground floor level there will also be a small bathroom and the stairs leading to the top floor. This space on the top floor is split into: two bedrooms and a bath room.
The rehabilitation consists on the structural & functional restoration of an old & typical building, which currently had an industrial use (cattle farming), for it to be turned into a residential building. The rehabilitation will be done according to the measures contained in the architects project, which include amongst others: consolidation of the building’s structural security and the improvement of the building’s functionality (access, acoustical & thermal insulation, solar panels…)
The restoration will use available local stone as basic element to create a habitable space, which will be functional & personalised. Traditionally, masonry used to be a building material used in local constructions. Thus, the stone will be preserved on all facades to add character to the building, which will also use simple local architectural references: Wooden roofed gates, asymmetrical roofs, used of prime noble material such as wood, stone, Arabic type tiles…
